Over 467% growth in the second edition of World Amateur Match Race
In May 2021, HappyTech launched the first edition of the World Amateur Match Race.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic that closed several countries, they managed to get more than 3000 players to sign up for the competition in just a few weeks.
At the second edition of the World Amateur Match Race a year later, the company can show strong growth in Sign-ups by as much as 467% and participating teams from 20 countries.
“It’s so amusing with 15,000 new sign-ups this year and all the positive feedback we get! ” says Sten Haakan Aakerlund, CEO and Founder of Happy Tech Group, which is behind the competition.
The growth of the World Amateur Match Race will increase further this year when it has Season Start 2 played from October to March 2023, with the World Final in Dubai in April 2023.
Season Start 2 will aim at participants mainly in the southern parts of the US with the states of Florida, California, Texas and Arizona, as well as Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South Africa, Argentina, Thailand and Malaysia.
The US, Australia and New Zealand are all countries in the top 5 measured on most registrations from Season Start 1. Sten Haakan predicts that Season Start 2 will have more participants from these countries due to the weather, which is the peak season to play golf.
They also launched a worldwide Padel tournament in May, which will start locally in October.
“We are blown away by the interest and feedback we get. Each day, we get several hundred sign-ups for the upcoming tournament,” says Sten Haakan.
Happy Tech Group has quickly established itself with different tournament concepts in about 20 countries. Everything is administrated through the in-house software that Happy Tech Group developed, which provides all the necessary information to allow simple coordination of match dates and locations.
“Our business model is incredibly scalable, and we can now accelerate properly with more marketing of tournament concepts and reach the goal of 45,000 sign-ups in our tournaments this year,” says Sten Haakan Aakerlund.
HappyTech will build on the past year’s success as they are ready to roll out their highly scalable model with new tournament concepts, where Screen Golf, Pickleball and Badminton are next.
